BACARRA, ILOCOS NORTE — Choco Mucho put on a show on Sunday night, stunning title-favorites Chery Tiggo via a shocking sweep in the Game One of the Premier Volleyball Open Conference semifinals.
And for Deanna Wong, the Flying Titans’ dominant performance can only be traced back to one thing — trust.
“Tiwala.
“Tiwala talaga sa kanila kasi doon naman nagsimula lahat e,” said Wong after the 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 win over the Crossovers at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center here.
“Siguro trust yourself kasi before you trust others naman. Kailangan mo pagkatiwlaan ‘yung sarili. I’m really proud of my teammates for delivering. It’s all on them dahil sa kanila ‘yun talaga,” the 23-year-old native of Cebu added.
The Ateneo product finished with 16 excellent sets in the match that saw a well-executed, balanced offensive from the side of the Flying Titans.
Despite the flawless showing from the Rebisco-backed squad, the job’s not done for Wong and co.
And she vows to do everything needed to deliver Choco Mucho to the promised land.
“Pero the job’s not done, so kailangan pa ng isang semifinals game pa and the goal is the championship,” said the UAAP Season 80 Best Setter.
“Siyempre panalo. The goal is the championship naman and we’re not gonna stop until we get there. We’ll put on a fight no matter what. Kailangan pa magtrabaho, sipagin at tiyagaan.”
