Chery Tiggo capitalized on Perlas’ late errors to take its first win in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Champions League, 25-21, 20-25, 25-14, 25-23, at the Aquamarine Sports Complex on Saturday evening.
The Crossovers crawled back from a six-point deficit in the fourth set as Dindin Santiago-Manabat locked the scores at 20.
Back to back attack errors from Michelle Morente handed Chery Tiggo a two-point, 22-20 lead.
Heather Guino-o scored from the back to cut the lead to one, but another attack error this time from Nicole Tiamzon negated the point.
Rachel Austero then committed a service error while Wendy Semana secured a drop to tie the scores at 23.
Two consecutive errors from Perlas’ side ended the match.
“We have to push harder,” said Chery Tiggo coach Aaron Velez.
“Lahat talaga ngayon is really vying for the first-ever Champions League. Kaya hindi talaga puwede tayong magpatumpik-tumpik. Kailangang sa umpisa, mauna kaagad,” he added.
Taking charge for Chery Tiggo, who went up with a 1-0 slate, is Santiago-Manabat who ended up with a team-high 17 points.
Mylene Paat put up 11 markers in the win while Buding Duremdes patrolled the Taraflex with 18 receptions and 14 digs.
On the other hand, Tiamzon led the Perlas Spikers with 21 points while Morente had an all-around game with 19 points, 14 digs, and 12 receptions.
