Chery Tiggo hopes Jaja Santiago’s schedule will let her play in PVL

Chery Tiggo head coach Aaron Velez bared that Jaja Santiago’s status for the upcoming 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference remains up in the air due to conflicting schedules.

Santiago is currently in the Philippines training with the Crossovers three weeks after parting ways with her team for five years, Saitama in the V.League.

Velez noted that nothing is final yet and there’s a slim chance that Santiago could suit up for the Chery Tiggo in the Invitationals this June. The former National University star has yet to announce her plans.

“Jaja is training with us. If in case her schedule fits in, she could play for us. Not yet final,” Velez told Tiebreaker Times.

The Crossovers were coming off a fifth-place finish in the All-Filipino Conference where they tallied a 4-4 win-loss record which was not enough to bring them to the semifinals.

Santiago last played in the PVL back in the 2021 Open Conference which was staged in Ilocos Norte. There, she led Chery Tiggo to the first professional title after they took out Creamline in the finals.

The 27-year-old pride of Tanza, Cavite also took home the Conference and Finals Most Valuable Player awards.
