Champion vs Champion in China as Demetrious Johnson takes on Moraes in ONE: Reign of Dynasties

Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson has won all the accolades in the world in a career spanning more than a decade.

All, that is, except one.

Now Johnson gets a chance to complete his collection of World Titles from all over the world when he challenges Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes for the ONE Flyweight World Title at ONE: Reign of Dynasties on April 11 at Chongqing, China.

ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong made the much-awaited announcement for the match on his social media pages early Monday morning.

The American wizard had to win the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix to get into this position, and he was definitely challenged before earning the World Title shot.

He made his much-anticipated debut against Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu at ONE: A NEW ERA. He faced a bit of trouble in the first round, before finishing off Wakamatsu in the second canto.

Johnson then scored a unanimous decision win over Tatsumitsu “The Sweeper” Wada at ONE: Dawn of Heroes. There, he punched a ticket to the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship Final, where a battle with Danny “The King” Kingad awaited him.

The Madisonville, Kentucky native passed that test with flying colors, scoring a convincing unanimous decision win over the Filipino prodigy at ONE: Century Part I to win the Grand Prix and earn the automatic World Title shot.

Moraes, on the other hand, wrapped up his hotly contested trilogy with Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio early last year at ONE: Hero’s Ascent, coming away with a unanimous decision win over the Team Lakay standout.

The Brazilian comes in as one of the most dominant World Champions in the organization, having been in the World Title picture since its start in 2014.

With a 9-3 record in The Home Of Martial Arts, “Mikinho” can ultimately stamp his case in the lore of the promotion if he secures a victory over who many believe is the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.

But before that, catch ONE: FIRE & FURY on January31 at the Mall Of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

Meanwhile, Joshua “The Passion” Pacio defends the ONE Strawweight World Title against Alex “Little Rock” Silva in the action-packed main event of the evening.
