Casiey Dongallo’s much-anticipated debut for Alas Pilipinas Women will have to wait.
Dongallo suffered a right arm injury.
She was seen wearing a cast on her right forearm in a photo posted by her high school program Cal Sports during her visit to Alas Pilipinas Women’s practice at Gameville in Sheridan St, Mandaluyong.
The impending absence of the University of the East rookie will be a huge blow to the Alas side competing in the upcoming AVC Challenge Cup for Women next week.
In addition, National University seniors Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon have yet to fully commit to joining the squad.
Dongallo, the top scorer of the recently-concluded UAAP Season 86 Women’s Volleyball Tournament, averaged 20.7 points per game for the Lady Warriors, who finished sixth with a 3-11 win-loss card.
With Dongallo out and the two Lady Bulldogs still uncertain, Sisi Rondina, Eya Laure, Angel Canino, Vanie Gandler, and Faith Nisperos are all expected to fill Alas Pilipinas’ huge void in the wing spiker rotation.
The Philippines, pooled in Group A, will open its campaign against Australia on Thursday, 7:00 PM at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
