Pioneer outlasted Purefoods in overtime, 22-20, to complete the PBA 3×3 Grand Finals quarterfinal picture, Wednesday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Carlo De Chavez sank the game-winning deuce in the extra period as the ProTibay completed the comeback after being down 17-19 late in regulation.
Christian Rivera led Pioneer with nine points. Gian Abrigo scored six, while De Chavez and Carlo Escalambre added four and three markers, respectively as Pioneer clinched the top seed in Pool B with a clean 2-0 card.
The ProTibay, runners-up in Leg 3, defeated Barangay Ginebra San Miguel earlier by way of a 21-16 decision. The Gin Kings bowed out with a 0-2 card.
Purefoods, meanwhile, was led by the 11 points of star forward Joseph Eriobu. Jed Mendoza backed him up with seven markers.
With this, Pioneer has arranged a showdown with fellow guest ball club Platinum Karaoke in the knockout quarterfinals later today.
Leg 4 champions Tender Juicy Titans, on the other hand, have forged a meeting with maiden leg titlists TNT Tropang Giga.
Other quarterfinal brackets will see top seed Meralco battle Terrafirma, with Legs 5 and 6 kings Limitless App set to take on San Miguel.
The Beermen emerged as the top seed of Pool A for having the superior quotient over the Dyip and Sista following a three-way tie at 1-1.
SMB finished with 38 points, while Terrafirma had 35. The Super Sealers had only 33 as their 18-14 win over the Dyip wasn’t enough.
