It did not take long for Rain or Shine to find a replacement for their injured import Denzel Bowles, as the Elasto Painters have tapped the services of Carl Montgomery.
The news was first reported by Reuben Terrado of Spin.ph Monday morning.
The Elasto Painters have found a new reinforcement just two days after losing Bowles due to a knee injury, which he suffered during RoS’ match versus the Alaska Aces last Saturday.
The 6-foot-10 center got hurt after colliding with Aces forward Jeron Teng at the 4:03-mark of the second quarter. He was brought into the dugout and eventually to the hospital.
Bowles left with 16 points and four rebounds and the remaining Elasto Painters stepped up in his absence to win, 86-84, to get back on track in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Bowles’ injury has yet to be determined but an earlier report said that the former Best Import is now out of the tilt.
And that led to them signing the 30-year-old Montgomery, a 6-foot-8 center from Chicago who’s been playing professionally since 2011 and has played in Latvia, Belgium, and Malaysia.
Montgomery is expected to make his debut this Wednesday as Rain or Shine face the Magnolia Hotshots.
