Bryan Santos, TIP give La Salle-Araneta rude D-League welcome

Technological Institute of the Philippines blasted McDavid-La Salle Araneta with a 27-point blowout, 108-81, for a rousing debut in the 2019 PBA D-League Second Conference, Thursday at Paco Arena in Manila.

The Engineers wasted no time in leaving the Stallions behind, using a 13-3 run to turn an 11-all deadlock to a 24-14 lead before exploding for 36 points in the second frame to grab a 60-30 lead at the half.

Senegalese big man Papa Ndiaye powered TIP with 26 points, including 12 in the second period alone, along with eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a steal.

Bryan Santos supplied 18 points, six rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Ivan Santos had 17 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a block, as Christian Daguro chimed in 10 markers and three dimes.

TIP led by as much as 40 points, 78-38, after an Ivan Santos bucket with 4:44 remaining in the third canto.

“I think we’re just lucky that yung kalaban is as not as prepared. We’re lucky that we were more prepared,” said TIP head coach Potit De Vera. “But I don’t think we will be able to do this if we will be playing against more experienced teams.”

Nigerian Henry Iloka was the lone bright spot for newcomer Stallions with 37 points and 23 rebounds.
