Bong Quinto on triple-doubles: ‘Para sa inyo yun’

In his final year of duty for the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights, senior Bong Quinto is making sure that it will be a memorable one.

Friday afternoon, the 23-year-old forward tallied his third triple-double of the season, tallying 11 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists in Letran’s bounce back win over the Mapua Cardinals.

This comes almost a month after his historic back-to-back triple-double outings against the Cardinals and the EAC Generals during the tail-end of the first round of the NCAA Seniors Basketball Tournament.

“Sa offense kasi namin anybody can score, so si Bong kasi inassert niya kasi yung pagiging role player at go-to-guy player combination.

“Mas napapadali rin sa kanya talaga dahil alam niuya yung mga teammates niya,” said third-year Knights head coach Jeff Napa.

Quinto’s three triple-doubles are the most the league has seen since Scottie Thompson had eight back in Season 91. But for the 6-foot-4 bruiser, he just wants to make sure that his teammates have a blast in his final year.

“Sa akin lang, gina-grab ko lang yung opportunity kasi sayang naman andun na din ako. Yung mga teammates ko, sa kanila lahat yun kasi sila yung, kumbaga ‘di makukumpleto yun ‘pag wala sila,” he shared.

“So para sa kanila yun, sa mga teammates sa mga coaches namin. Then sa lahat, sa NCAA, sa inyong lahat, para sa inyo yun.”
