Bit of an assurance from Beau Belga: ‘I’m with Rain or Shine as of now’

Beau Belga gave some assurance that he will still remain an Elasto Painter, following the rumors that swirled days ago regarding Belga’s relationship with Rain or Shine, where he has been playing for seven years now.

According to the rumors, which were released by Spin.ph last Monday, the six-foot-six Belga — along with younger teammates Raymond Almazan and Jericho Cruz — wants out of the RoS franchise through a trade.

“Talagang ako, I’m with Rain or Shine as of now,” Belga said on Friday after RoS’ 90-84 victory over the Meralco Bolts.

“And I need to play kasi sila yung, yung mga boss sa Rain or Shine ang nagbibigay sa akin ng pangkain sa family ko.”

Belga echoed what head coach Caloy Garcia had told them.

“Sabi ko nga sa kanila we just have to be professional about it and put the effort because ang nagbabayad naman talaga sa salary nila is yung owners and that’s the only way that we can repay them,” said the youthful mentor.

The good thing is that the Elasto Painters were still able to get a win — their second straight — amidst this saga, a victory that, according to Belga, is something they truly need as they aim for the all-Filipino playoffs.

“Kailangan namin yung panalo e. ‘Pag natalo kami, babagsak kami sa ilalim,” said Belga, who had 13 points and 13 rebounds. “Yung willingness namin na maglaro today [nandoon] and talagang ginusto namin manalo.

“Ayaw namin talaga bumagsak sa ilalim.”

But still, Belga said that if ever a trade takes place with him as the main piece, he will simply accept his lot.

“Yung mga ganung bagay hindi ko na control yun,” said the 10-year league veteran.

“Kung gusto nila ako itrade wala naman ako magagawa doon. Pero as of now I’m with Rain or Shine and I need to play well for them.”
