Big Game Ara Galang peaking at the right time

Far from the way they started the PSL All-Filipino Conference, the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers now look like a runaway truck on the freeway bent on grabbing their second championship

F2 Logistics started their season with a loss against Cignal. On Thursday night, the Cargo Movers crushed the Cignal HD Spikers in just 61 miutes en route to the Finals.

The Cargo Movers have now won six straight games, and a big part of their run has been open spiker Ara Galang. Having two of the best middle blockers in the league in Aby Maraño and Majoy Baron, F2 Logistics head coach Ramil De Jesus found it pivotal to pull contributions from Galang, whom he calls the “heart and soul of the team”.

“Expected na sa amin na gagawa sa amin ‘yung mga gitna namin lalo na noong simula ng season. Noong nagsimula nang gumanda ‘yung laro ni Ara, doon mo nakitang tumaas ‘yung laro noong buong team,” said the 10-time UAAP champion head coach.

Galang is fully aware of how much the team needs her. Before her horrific knee injury in the UAAP Season 77 Final Four, the Pampanga-native was inarguably one the best open hitters in the country, with her unique blend of length and do-it-all brilliance.

Now, Galang has had to pace herself as she continues to strengthen her knee. She needs time to get back into shape due to all the procedures, but, when she’s in-form, she shows just why De Jesus still trusts her his ace attacker.

“Siyempre, privilege ‘yun na malaki ang tiwala sa akin ng mga coach. Thankful ako na may tiwala pa ‘rin siya sa akin hanggang ngayon,” remarked the three-time UAAP champion who is averaging 13 points per match in their six-game winning streak.

While the rehab process does get taxing, Galang trusts that she will, one day, regain her old form.

“Wala naman din talaga akong magagawa kailangan ko lang i-accept, kailangan ko lang mag-adjust doon,” the 22-year-old admitted.

“Nasa sa akin din naman ‘yung solusyon kung paano ko haharapin ‘yung challenge.”

Winning another PSL All-Filipino title is the main focus Galang, for now.

“Siyempre gusto naming manalo ng nga championship para sa lahat ng nagtiwala sa amin — sa management, sa fans, sa coaches. Doon siguro kami magiging happy talaga after manalo ng championship.”
