LPGA rookie Bianca Pagdanganan could not recover from an up-and-down backside and had to settle for a 2-over 72 at the conclusion of the third and penultimate round of the 2020 Pelican Women’s Championship at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, Sunday early morning here in the Philippines.
The 4-over 214 pushed the Pagdanganan to a tie at the 40th spot, six strokes out of the Top 10.
Starting from the back nine, the 23-year-old encountered an early mishap in the 11th hole with a bogey, before two more holes needed an extra shot in the 15th and 18th holes.
Fortunately, Pagdanganan was able to take on the 14th and 17th holes with birdies to finish at 1-over 36 heading into the other end of the course.
The driving leader of the season could not power her way through the front nine, and another bogey in the fifth to go with pars along the way sealed her fate for the day.
South Korean Sei Young Kim posted herself into a great position to win the tourney with a 14-under 196.
As for Pagdanganan, she will attempt to finish strong and barge into at least the top 10 as the tournament closes Sunday afternoon in Florida.
