Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws’ Bernadeth Pons is as soft-spoken as they come. But the 21-year-old loses her signature Negrense tone when speaking about her desire to lift the Lady Tamaraws to the UAAP Season 80 Women’s Volleyball Finals.
After putting up another triple-double of 13 points, 13 digs, and 13 receptions in their win against the UE Lady Warriors, Pons spoke passionately about wanting end her UAAP career with a milestone.
“Palagi kong ni-reremind ‘yung sarili ko na last year ko na tapos last chance ko na din, so kailangan all-out na.
“Talagang no mercy so kung ano ‘yung kailangan kong ibigay ibibigay ko na lahat kasi last chance ko na,” said the Most Valuable Player candidate.
The Lady Tamaraws can put themselves in prime position for a twice-to-beat advantage if they win their final elimination round match against the NU Lady Bulldogs on Sunday.
If the Lady Bulldogs stand in Pons’ way of glory, she’s more than willing to knock them down again.
“Palagi lang namin nire-remind ‘yung bawat isa na ‘yung natitirang game namin must win talaga siya kasi yung target namin is yung number two na spot,” shared FEU’s captain, who is the SMART Sports Player of the Day.
“Pero palagi naman namin nire-remind yung bawat isa na kailangan pagtrabahuan namin kung sino man ‘yung nakakalaban namin.”
