Lady Tamaraws trample Lady Warriors, forge tie for second

The Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws barely faced any resistance, running past neighbors Unoversity of the East Lady Warriors, 25-17, 25-15, 25-20, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

FEU, with the win, forced a tie for the second seed with the Ateneo Lady Eagles, both having a 9-4 records. The Lady Tamaraws could clinch at least a playoff for the twice-to-beat incentive with a win on Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena against the NU Lady Bulldogs (7-6).

The Lady Tamaraws played their best all-around match. The ladies from Morayta slammed UE in each set, taking insurmountable leads early and never looking back.

Celine Domingo led the Lady Tamaraws with 16 points. Bernadeth Pons had another all-around match with 13 markers, 13 digs, and 13 excellent receptions.

“‘Yun ‘yung talagang objective namin (makuha ang twice-to-beat) pero sabi ko nga sa kanila kanina one at a time lang, one step at a time lang so next plan is NU,” said FEU head coach George Pascua. “Sabi ko nga sa kanila pag mas maganda laro namin yung ine-aim namin na twice to beat possible na makukuha namin kumbaga gift na lang yun kung talagang pagtatrabahuan.”

Shaya Adorador and Me-Ann Mendrez each tallied 11 points.

The Lady Warriors play their final match of the season on Saturday at the Blue Eagle Gym against the UP Lady Maroons (5-8).
