Benilde’s Prince Carlos suffers concussion after San Sebastian game

The College of Saint Benilde Blazers were handed a double loss on Tuesday evening.

During the Blazers’ heartbreaking 65-66 defeat to the San Sebastian Golden Stags, rookie guard Prince Carlos was immediately taken to Cardinal Santos Medical Center after showing signs of concussion.

With 9:13 left in the game, Carlos, a 5-foot-11 guard, figured in a box-out situation with 6-foot-2 swingman Allyn Bulanadi. Bulanadi clocked Carlos’ head with his right forearm as he went for a spin.

Carlos fell to the floor and did not return to the contest. There was no foul called.

According to Blazers assistant coach Charles Tiu, the team had to rush Carlos to the hospital as he showed signs of concussion – including vomiting.

Tiu was irate with the non-call during that play.

“No foul called. I’m more upset at the refs than the player cause they’re paid to do their job. But clearly have been doing it poorly,” he tweeted.

As of Wednesday morning, Carlos is still undergoing more tests.

Carlos is a huge part of TY Tang’s rotation, playing 12.5 minutes per game and averaging 4.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
