Even the 2019 Midterm Elections won’t keep both the San Miguel Beermen and the Magnolia Hotshots from preparing for Game Seven of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals.
Although Malacañang has already declared that Monday, May 13, is a non-working holiday to give way for the elections, both teams will still be holding their respective practices.
“Kailangan eh,” said Hotshots head coach Chito Victolero.
Victolero revealed that the team will go and vote in their respective districts right after practice. Magnolia usually holds their sessions from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Ronac Arts Center in San Juan.
“After that tsaka kami boboto,” he said.
However, Victolero rued that there are members of the team who cannot exercise their right to suffrage, as some of them would have to go to their provinces.
“May hindi na talaga makakauwi because of time.
“Yung iba malalayo pa, unlike katulad ako na sa Bulacan lang. Or yung iba na sa North lang, or South,” Victolero disclosed.
Meanwhile, Austria said that the Beermen will be voting first before going to practice. San Miguel will be holding their practice on Monday at 2:00 PM at Acropolis due to their election plans.
“Pagka-boto namin, diretso na kami sa practice,” the decorated bench tactician said. “Ayaw naming magkahiwa-hiwalay muna.
“Tapusin na natin ‘to hanggang Wednesday.”
Game Seven is on Wednesday, May 15, still at SMART Araneta Coliseum.
