2019 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

Beau Belga joins Gilas Pilipinas practice


An old reliable made sure to help out Gilas Pilipinas in its prep for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Beau Belga was one of the 12 players in attendance in Gilas Pilipinas’ fourth practice for the global meet, Monday evening at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City.

Belga last competed in the 2018 Asian Games and in the fourth and fifth windows of the Asian Qualifiers.

The 32-year-old averaged 5.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in four games played.

Joining the hefty big man were Gabe Norwood, June Mar Fajardo, Kiefer Ravena, Japeth Aguilar, Roger Pogoy, Mark Barroca, Paul Lee, Raymond Almazan, Poy Erram, Robert Bolick, and CJ Perez.

Marcio Lassiter was in attendance, but sat out. Meanwhile, Troy Rosario was absent.

Gilas leave for Spain in a month’s time before heading to China for the World Cup.

The Philippines is bracketed with Serbia, Italy, and Angola in Group D.
