Bataan Risers, SBP join hands in fight against tobacco use

Every year, the World Health Organization celebrates the World No Tobacco Day on May 31.

To help in promoting this fight against tobacco use, the WHO partnered with MPBL club team Bataan Risers and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas to hold a basketball clinic in Paco Arena, Friday.

“Being a sports organization, the Bataan Risers remains committed to healthy living among our citizenry, not only at present but for future generations,” said Risers team manager Borgie Hermida.

Bataan players Sean Manganti, Anton Asistio, Santi Santillan, Vince Tolentino, Jai Reyes, Chito Jaime, Alfred Batino, Byron Villarias, Leo Najorda, Gio Espuelas, and Bernie Bregondo became instructors for the day to teach the kids of Paco the importance of health and wellness.

Also present were Risers head coach Jong Uichico together with SBP’s Ryan Betia, Mark Solano, and Xander Gubat – all of whom are part of the federation’s coaches clinic.

“We commend the WHO for their efforts in the Philippines and the SBP for their generous support in this endeavor,” added Hermida.

But this fight won’t stop, as Bataan and SBP look to continue this fight all year long.
