Baser Amer has been one of the most loyal products the San Beda basketball program has ever produced.
But he admitted that he almost went to National University after steering the Red Cubs to two NCAA Juniors titles.
Kentucky,” he quipped during last Friday’s episode of The Prospects Pod presented by SMART Sports and supported by Chris Sports.
“Hindi, NU kinukuha ako ng NU.”
No one would have blamed Amer if he decided to transfer to NU since at the end of the day, it was his decision.
That is why for Amer, he understands the reasoning behind Evan Nelle’s transfer to La Salle.
In his sophomore year, the 5-foot-10 guard averaged 10.2 points, 6.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game, making it to the All-NCAA team.
“Si Nelle talaga yung bata na yun. Sobrang galing nung bata na yun,” said Arellano product Jio Jalalon when asked about the NCAA player who he has been keeping tabs on.
But last January, Nelle and San Beda parted ways as he went to La Salle.
Amer, who led San Beda to four NCAA Seniors crowns, has no qualms with what Nelle did.
At the end of the day, he knows that it is what Evan and the Nelle family think was the best route for his career.
