Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy made sure to relish his ONIC PH homecoming on Friday evening.
“Sobrang sarap sa feeling kasi nung napunta ako dito sa ONIC.
“Sobrang na-welcome nila ako and swerte ko rin sa mga ka-team ko kasi ang lalakas nila ganiyan,” shared Baloyskie after ONIC PH’s 2-0 debut win against ECHO, Friday.
The 22-year-old midlaner started his career with the Indonesian franchise. There, he helped the team reach the Season Four finals before eventually losing to archrival Sunsparks (now ECHO) in the best-of-five grand finals series.
ONIC PH, which then has the likes of Johnmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna, Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario, Christian “Iy4knu” Manaog, and Gerald “Dlar” Trinchera, even made an appearance in the first-ever M1 World Championships in 2019.
The team bowed out of the tournament in the group stage and Baloyskie, who took over the starting role from John “Zico” Dizon, was at the receiving end of the fans’ ire – which played as one of the key factors in his transfer to Sunsparks.
Baloyskie led the Sunsparks franchise to its second-straight title in Season Five, before eventually leaving the squad after successive losses in Seasons Six and Seven.
On Friday evening, ONIC PH’s prodigal son finally made his comeback to where it all started – bringing out a set of new heroes in the mix to mark his return.
Baloyskie won MVP honors in Game One with four kills and an assist against five deaths playing Natan. He then finished with four assists and two deaths in the dominant Game Two with Lylia.
Aside from the new heroes, the one-time MPL champion also brought out something new in his debut. Known as Greed_ for the entirety of his career, the former Sunsparks stalwart debuted the IGN Baloyskie for the very first time.
“Gusto ko po kasi yung name ko unique, kasi kapag nagse-search po kasi ako ng Greed ano e, ang daming lumalabas ganun,” he said.
“Kapag nag search ka sa web ang daming nalabas so parang naisip ko na gusto kong maging unique, so yung surname ko — yun ang ginawa kong IGN so ayun may -skie lang.”
