ONIC PH team captain Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy admitted that the team lost focus after figuring in a war of words with Omega Esports which resulted in a heartbreaking 1-2 loss last Friday.
Up by a huge margin against the SMART-backed squad in winner-take-all Game Three, ONIC PH was a hit away from securing a reverse sweep but failed to end the game. Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ Beatrix then pulled off a massive Maniac to complete Omega Esports’ upset win.
The trash-talking got out of hand, according to Baloyskie, to the point that ONIC PH failed to communicate properly which explained the loss.
With that mishap in mind, Baloyskie and the rest of ONIC PH made sure to keep their emotions in check against their crucial match against TNC.
“Para sa akin may pagsisisi ako doon sa last game e kasi sumabay kami doon sa trashtalk instead na mag-focus sa game,” shared Baloyskie after ONIC PH’s 2-1 reverse sweep of TNC. “Feeling ko kung hindi kami nagpadala sa emotions amin yung series na yun e.
“Tapos hindi na kami nakakapagusap nun kaya ayun, focus na lang kami. Sakto naman mababait yung TNC e. Mabait naman yung Omega pero iba.”
Despite losing the opener, ONIC PH managed to keep their composure – and their emotions – and brought out monster performances in the next two games to defeat TNC.
ONIC put up a 13-1 stomp in Game Two in just 13 minutes and 54 seconds before sealing the series with a flawless 7-0 outing in Game Three which lasted for 17 minutes and 25 seconds.
Baloyskie was named the MVP of Game Two with a game-high 10 assists on Rafaela. He then scored a kill along with four assists in Game Three with the same hero as ONIC PH remained at the fifth spot with eight points and a 3-2 win-loss slate.
ONIC PH will face the top-ranked ECHO on Friday at 8:00 PM.
