Three weeks ago, Almond Vosotros was playing for the Caloocan Supremos in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
Three weeks later, the gunslinging point guard is back in the PBA suiting up for the TNT KaTropa.
For Vosotros, he never saw his detour in the MPBL as a demotion, as others might think. For him, it was a chance for him to prepare should he ever receive another PBA call-up — which he did.
“Siguro kasama sa process para ma-develop ulit yung skills ko para pagbalik ko sa PBA, ready na ako.”
Vosotros has been practicing with TNT for a while now, but the KaTropa only signed him last week — prior to the East Asia Super League-The Terrific 12 — after the Supremos released him.
KaTropa consultant Mark Dickel himself said that Vosotros had been on the team’s radar for months. And the former De La Salle Green Archer, of course, is glad to know that.
“Sobrang nakaka-touch kasi ‘di ko expect na ganun,” said Vosotros, himself a former Gilas Pilipinas member.
Vosotros debuted for TNT on Wednesday. He finished with seven point, making all three of his shots along with four rebounds and an assist in the KaTropa’s 135-107 win over Blackwater Elite.
The 29-year-old from Albay is definitely glad to finally be back in the PBA. And now that he’s in Asia’s pioneering pro league once more, Vosotros hopes that he can stay for long.
“Hopefully oo, sana. Talagang pagsisikapan ko kasi nandito na ako — ito talaga yung main goal ko,” said the three-year pro.
“So hanggang nandito ako, gagawin ko lahat.”
