Nagoya saw its nine-game winning streak snapped by Shimane, falling 81-88 in the 2021-22 B.League season, Monday at Matsue City Gymnasium.
With the game knotted at 54-all midway through the third canto, Kosuke Kanemaru knocked down a triple. That sparked a huge end-of-quarter run for the Susanoo Magic that gave them a 68-63 lead entering the final frame.
Nick Kay then powered a 15-6 run that turned a 71-65 lead early to an 86-72 cushion with 5:15 left.
The Diamond Dolphins could not muster a late-game hijack, dropping to a tie with the Susanoo Magic in the standings at 18-8.
Shimane was led by former Meralco import Seiya Ando with 21 points built on five treys. Meanwhile, Kanamaru got 20 points on four triples.
Kay tallied a double-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists. Reid Travis chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds.
Coty Clarke led the way for Nagoya with 21 points.
Takumi Saito got 18 points and eight assists. Meanwhile, Bobby Ray Parks Jr. saw himself held down to just four points on 1-of-7 shooting from the field and two turnovers.
Taito Nakahigashi added 13 points.
Nagoya looks to build a new streak starting on Saturday when its faces Ibaraki at Dolphin’s Arena.
