Dwight Ramos played just three minutes in Toyama’s 79-84 loss to Hiroshima in the 2021-22 B.League season, Saturday at FPCO Arena Fukuyama.
Ramos has been put under minutes restriction after getting hurt in their loss to Chiba last Wednesday.
The 6-foot-4 all-around winger only played in the second quarter, going 0-of-2 from the foul stripe while grabbing a rebound.
Still, the Grouses put a scare to the Dragonflies late in the game.
Down 59-69 early in the final frame, Toyama went on a 10-2 rally, sparked by a Bryce Johnson bucket and capped by a Keijuro Matsui trey to cut the lead down to two.
Julian Mavunga was able to knot the game at 75-all with under four minutes left.
Nick Mayo though took charge for Hiroshima, knocking down the big buckets — a jumper with 1:27 left that gave his side an 82-79 lead. Misses by Toyama and free throws from Mayo sealed the deal for the hosts.
Hiroshima went up to 16-9 with the win while Toyama dropped its fifth game in their last six outings to fall to 8-17.
The Dragonflies had five players score in double-digits led by Ryo Terashima, who had 18 points on four treys with six rebounds and four assists.
Mayo got 16 points while Gregory Echenique tallied 13 points and eight rebounds.
Takuto Nakamura scattered 12 points, six assists, and four steals while Thomas Kennedy scored 11 points from off-the-bench duties.
Joshua Smith paced Toyama with 19 points and 15 rebounds while Julian Mavunga added 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Naoki Uto tallied 13 points, six assists, five rebounds, and two steals while Kevin Hareyama chipped in 12 points on three treys as the two stepped up for Ramos.
The two squads face off again tomorrow.
