B.League: Dwight Ramos, Toyama rack up win no. 2 at Kyoto’s expense


Dwight Ramos and Toyama got a morale-boosting victory, routing Kyoto 94-80 in the 2021-22 B.League season, Wednesday at the Kyoto City Gymnasium.

Julian Mavunga was pivotal in the win, finishing with a triple-double with 20 points on five triples, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Mavunga set the tone early, scoring eight first quarter points.

Joshua Smith followed suit in the second frame, powering the Grouses to a 27-point second quarter that gave his side a 45-34 halftime lead.

The lead would balloon to as high as 19 points as Toyama won its second game to rise to 2-10 in the west.

Smith added 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field with 11 rebounds while Ramos only played 17 minutes in the contest, finishing with seven points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field with two rebounds. Bryce Johnson also added 11 points and seven rebounds.

The Hannaryz, who dropped to 2-10, was led by Jerome Tillman, who had 18 points and seven rebounds while Justin Harper got 17 points and seven rebounds.

Ramos and Toyama head back home this weekend to host Thirdy Ravena and San-En.
