Despite getting a 20-day rest, Aomori still could not snap out of its funk in the 2021-22 B.League Division II tournament, absorbing a 66-83 defeat at the hands of Koshigaya, Saturday at Hachinohe City East Gymnasium.
Crushing was the defeat as it is the Wat’s 13th straight loss, going down to 2-29.
Down by just four, 41-45, with 8:15 left in the third canto, Aomori’s defense gave way while the offense stagnated.
The Alphas went on a 20-6 blitz with the trio of Isaac Butts, Shunki Hatakeyama, and Makoto Kamata combining for 16 points in the rally that blew the game wide open.
It was all Koshigaya from there as it led by as much as 25 points, 83-58, after a Jonathan Octeus bucket with 2:59 remaining in the game.
Koshigaya, who went up to 17-14 in the standings, was led by Octeus with 23 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds.
Kamata, meanwhile, scored 16 points off the bench while Butts tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Hatakeyama chipped in 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field.
Hayate Komasawa led the way for Aomori with 19 points while Renaldo Dixon added 16 points and eight rebounds.
Kemark Carino was a DNP for the fifth time this season.
The two squads meet again tomorrow.
