B.League: Aquino benched anew as Shinshu swept by Chiba

The woes of Matt Aquino and Shinshu continued into the new year as Chiba completed its sweep, 85-68, in the 2021-22 B.League season, Sunday at Funabashi Arena.

The Brave Warriors have now lost 11 of its last 12 games, falling to 10-16 in the standings.

Already leading 43-34 at the half, the Jets turned it up in the third frame, scoring 27 points while allowing just 18 to gain an 18-point lead heading into the final stanza.

Christopher Smith and John Mooney scored eight apiece during the dominant quarter for Chiba while anchoring its defense.

The lead would balloon to as high as 13 points in the final frame.

Chiba, who went up to 20-6, was led by Mooney and Gavin Edwards as both had 19 points apiece. Mooney also had eight rebounds.

Smith added 18 points and five rebounds while Yuki Togashi glued things together with eight points and eight assists.
