Ayo ejected from DLSU-UE tilt

With the De La Salle University Green Archers holding an imposing 40-28 lead against the University of the East Red Warriors with 1:12 remaining, first year Green Archer head coach Aldin Ayo was ejected from the game for back-to-back technical fouls.

Prior to the incident, Thomas Torres was called for an out of bounds turnover with UE’s Wilson Bartolome forcing Torres out. No foul was called even with the referee right in front of what happened.

At the heat of the moment, Ayo grabbed assistant coach Siot Tanquingcen’s glasses and immediately confronted the referee wearing the number 22 jersey, allegedly referee Eric Viray. The 38 year old tried to put the pair of glasses on the referee while exchanging foul words resulting to his expulsion.UAAP-79-DLSU-vs.-UE-Aldin-Ayo-8301 Ayo ejected from DLSU-UE tilt Basketball News UAAP UE - philippine sports news

However, this was not the first time Ayo was ejected in a game against the UE Red Warriors.

During the Milcu Got Skills tournament last summer, Ayo was infuriated with a non-call against Torres as well. In the same manner, the fiery DLSU head coach grabbed the glasses of Glen Capacio and, in the same manner, tried to put the glasses on the official’s head.

The commissioner’s office is still reviewing the incident. The mentor though might be suspended for the DLSU-ADMU rivalry on Sunday, October 2.
