AVC: PMNVT thrashes Macau, advances to Final 12

The Philippine men’s national volleyball team had a dominant start in Group D to enter the final 12 of the 2023 Asian Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup at the Taipei Gymnasium in Taiwan.

The Filipinos bagged a lopsided straight sets win, 25-21, 25-15, 25-14, to eliminate Macau from contention and move to a win away from qualifying to the quarterfinals.

Marck Espejo scored six of his game-high nine points in the first set to set the tone for the Philippines’ dominant debut.

Meanwhile, Steve Rotter and Lloyd Josafat chipped in seven and six points, respectively.

The Filipinos moved on to their final match in Pool D against Mongolia, who also defeated Macau in the opener.

Ryan Ka and Jau Umandal each provided five points for the Philippines.
