Aurora dominates Team Liquid with sweep, claims solo third in MPL PH

By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

Aurora delivered a dominant performance with a commanding 2-0 sweep over Team Liquid Philippines in MPL Philippines Season 14 on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

Aurora finished the first half of the regular season with a 5-2 record, while Team Liquid stands at 3-3.

“Tingin ko kulang pa [yung performance ng team]. Meron pa kami kayang i-improve kase kung gusto naming makamit yung goal namin na trophy then kailangan talaga lahat matalo namin,” said head coach Aniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani during the post-match interview.

The team relied on the steady performances of Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto (Joy) and Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse (Angela) during Game 2, where they both finished with a perfect KDA of six kills and 14 assists combined.

The pivotal moment for Aurora came during the 16th-minute lord siege when Demonkite secured the objective and eventually wiped out Team Liquid, ending the game with a straight push in the mid-lane.

It was a similar scenario in Game 1, as Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo (Valentina), Jan “Domeng” Delmundo (Harith), and Demonkite (Bane) stood out by dealing most of the damage for the team throughout the game.

The trio recorded an impressive 15 kills, 23 assists, and four deaths combined in the stats sheet during the 17-minute game, with an 18-11 kill score.

Aurora will next face Smart Omega on September 14 at 7:30 PM. Meanwhile, Team Liquid Philippines will conclude their first half of the regular season matches against the same team on Sunday at the same time.
