By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

Aurora snapped its two-game losing streak with an impressive 2-0 sweep against Team Liquid Philippines in MPL Philippines Season 14 on Friday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

With this victory, Aurora handed the reigning MPL Philippines champions their second consecutive loss in the latter half of the regular season.

As a result, Aurora now sits in fourth place in the standings with a 6-4 record, while Team Liquid drops to fifth with a 4-5 record.

In Game 2, Aurora made quick work of TLPH, with the duo of Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse (Rafaela) and Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto (X-Borg) proving to be the game-changers.

They finished the match in just 11 minutes and 47 seconds, with a flawless combined KDA of 10 kills and 22 assists.

“Tingin ko ganon pa ren, improving. Napakita naman nila yung ginagawa namin sa mga scrims. Hanggang ngayon, [ang] purpose pa rin namin ay mag-improve pa,” said head coach Aniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani during the post-match interview.

Game 1 followed a similar script, as Aurora dominated Team Liquid, finishing the game in under 12 minutes.

Renejay’s performance on Mathilda was crucial, providing much-needed support in every teamfight. He was named MVP of the game with a KDA of three kills, 15 assists, and three deaths.

Looking ahead, Aurora will face the winless TNC Pro Team on September 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Team Liquid Philippines will take on Smart Omega on Saturday at the same time.
