Asa Miller is formally announced as the athlete who will take the lone quota for the Philippines in alpine skiing in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing in February next year.
The 21-year-old took to Instagram his delight of going into his second straight Winter Olympics.
Miller said, “Hi everyone! I’m extremely excited to announce that I’ll be making my second Olympic appearance in Beijing 2022!
“I’ll be competing in the Giant Slalom and the Slalom. More details are coming soon.”
The Fil-American skier once again fulfilled the required number of points from the International Ski Federation to be eligible for the quota set for the Philippines.
All of his points for the current season were taken from competitions in the United States, where her highest placement came from a sixth-place finish in the Giant Slalom in Snow King last January.
His best performances came from the Lutsen Mountain’s first run for the Giant Slalom (63.79) and in the same tournament’s second run for the Slalom (67.42). The lower FIS points indicate better results.
The Philippines has one more eligible athlete should the NOC gain another berth for the Beijing Olympics in Brandon Leitner.
Miller, who was the flag-bearer in the most recent Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, is the second athlete to represent the country in the Games for two straight editions after figure skating star Michael Christian Martinez.
