After the RC Cola-Army A tandem of Jovelyn Gonzaga and Nene Bautista tallied a perfect 3-0 record in the elimination round of the PSL Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup 2016, the duo is seeking a better form when the quarterfinals of the tournament begins on Sunday.
“Every skill talaga, fino-flawless namin. Nung first games namin, hindi ganoong ka-flawless. Unti-unti, nangangapa pa rin kami pero siguro may improvement naman from the first game,” Gonzaga said.
Army A defeated FEU, Cignal, and Meralco in Pool D to walk away with a perfect slate after the first two days of competition.
But duo is wary of the tougher challenges that lie ahead, and both players are keen on putting on a better performance.
“Satisfied naman pero we need to work on (some things) pa,” Gonzaga said. “Marami pa kaming lapses, yung communication namin, yun ang kailangan pa naming i-improve sa remaining days.”
Gonzaga added she and Bautista will utilize a week’s worth of rest to improve their game.
“Malaking tulong kasi makakapag-training pa kami. Enough na tulong yun para sa quarter-finals kasi, level up na dapat ang labanan. Sana mas buo pa ang team-up namin,” Gonzaga said.
“Beach volleyball kasi, dalawa lang kayo so kailangan i-perfect yung basic skills mo. Kung hindi, mangangapa ka talaga.”
