Former Phoenix Fuel Masters head coach Ariel Vanguardia will be manning the sidelines for the IECO Green Warriors in the Asia League’s Terrific 12 tournament in Macau, set in September.
Vanguardia will be heading a team that will feature PBA D-League stars. So far, nine have been put in, with the majority coming from 2018 Foundation Cup champions Go for Gold Scratchers.
The three others players are still being sought by the team.
Go for Gold leaders Gab Banal and Jai Reyes, and their young guns Kris Porter, Rey Publico, Ron Dennison, and Matt Salem will be headlining the lone Philippine contingent in the meet.
2018 Foundation Cup Most Valuable Player Jeff Viernes – already a veteran in the Southeast Asian basketball circuit – of the Che’lu Bar and Grill Revellers will be joining the Scratchers’ core.
Set to reinforce the Green Warriors are former TNT KaTropa import Richard Howell and Sam Logwood.
The Green Warriors will be facing top Asian teams such as Shandong Hi-speed Golden Stars, Xinjiang Flying Tigers, Zhejiang Guangsha Lions and Guangzhou Long Lions from CBA; Chiba Jets, Ryukyu Golden Kings, Nagoya Diamond Dolphins from Japan’s B.LEAGUE; Samsung Thunders and Mobis Phoebus from Korea; and Fubon Braves and Yulong Luxgen Dinos from SBL of Chinese Taipei.
The Terrific 12 will be held at Macau’s Studio City Event Center from September 18 to 23.
