Another exodus has taken place at Mapua University.
Big men Drex Delos Reyes and Joe Gulapa have left the school, opting not to enroll for the second semester, multiple sources closely monitoring the situation told Tiebreaker Times.
This development comes a year after Lawrence Mangubat and Chris Hubilla also departed the Cardinals’ nest, transferring to Kalentong to enroll at Jose Rizal University. Both Mangubat and Hubilla are expected to make their Heavy Bombers debuts in NCAA Season 102.
Sources added that Gulapa is likewise headed to JRU, where he will reunite with former Mapua assistant coach Nani Epondulan.
Meanwhile, Delos Reyes is still weighing his options, with sources saying he is considering either joining JRU or turning professional with defending MPBL champion Abra Solid North.
Delos Reyes and Gulapa both left National University two years ago to transfer to Mapua.
In what turned out to be their lone season with the Cardinals, the 6-foot-8 Delos Reyes averaged 4.71 points and 3.29 rebounds in 10 minutes of game time. Gulapa, on the other hand, appeared in just eight games, totaling eight points and 11 rebounds.
Should both decide to remain in college, they would still have three years of eligibility remaining.
