Another Cutura explosion goes for naught as Sta. Lucia goes to 2-0 in PSL GP

Sta. Lucia’s depth proved too much for Marinerang Pilipina in the endgame, racking up a tight 25-19, 21-25, 30-28, 25-20 victory in the 2020 PSL Grand Prix, Saturday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

Royse Tubino did the heavy lifting for the 2-0 Lady Realtors, dropping 24 points.

“I’m so excited. Our team fought really hard. A lot of our players stepped up — Royse stepped up, and I’m so glad she’s on our team,” said Sta. Lucia skipper Shainah Joseph.

For her part, Joseph had 19 markers while MJ Phillips added 13.

Still, Sta. Lucia needed all of the points of the trio to survive Hana Cutura.

Cutura, who had 36 points against Chery Tiggo four days ago, tallied 29 points in this one for the Lady Skippers.

“Inisip ko na lang kanina na kailangan namin tapusin ‘yung sinumulan namin,” said Tubino. “Kailangan namin ‘yung buong team na gumawa para manalo.”

On the other hand, Marinerang Pilipina fell to 0-2.
