Jack Animam and Shih Hsin University ground out a 74-59 win against rival University of Taiwan in the 2020-21 University Basketball Alliance tournament, Sunday at the Tigers’ home floor.
Animam had 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, to go along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
But the defending UBA champions figured in a barn-burner against Taiwan U.
Up 37-25 entering the second half, Taiwan U slowly chipped at the lead, eventually cutting it to five, 59-54, with six minutes left in the game.
Lin Die was a force inside the paint. She and the outside shooting of Li Yinchen triggered a 15-5 endgame run to seal their seventh win in as many games.
Lin had 21 points, 14 rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a block in the contest while Li added 10 markers.
Taiwan U, who fell to 5-2, had a balanced attack led by the 12 markers of Wu Caiting. Senior Chen Zihua added 10 markers off the bench.
Animam and the Tigers will have a month-long break before taking on Taiwan Normal on January 21, 2021 at Taiwan University Gym.
