Rain or Shine continues to stockpile assets for the future.
The Elasto Painters have inked rookie Andrei Caracut to a fresh two-year extension, the team announced through its social media pages Friday.
He was accompanied by agent Charlie Dy in the signing, also graced by team governor Atty. Mert Mondragon; consultant and basketball operations head Caloy Garcia; and assistant team manager Jireh Ibanes.
The signing took place days after Rain or Shine concluded its campaign in the 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup. There it, unfortunately, missed the playoffs.
Caracut, 26, was the Elasto Painters’ pick at 23rd overall in the 2021 Rookie Draft. He was one of the four neophytes signed by the team later on, along with Leonard Santillan, Anton Asistio, and Franky Johnson.
The La Salle product played for nine games in the Governors’ Cup and averaged 5.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.
Caracut scored a career-high 12 points in their final game of the conference against reigning champ Ginebra, but RoS lost 93-104.
His per-game norms in the season-ending tournament were an improvement from his numbers in the 2021 Philippine Cup. There, he only had 4.1 markers, 1.2 boards. and 1.2 caroms in 13 outings.
