After missing the last four games of Gilas Pilipinas, Andray Blatche has made his return to the Philippines, Friday evening.
Blatche is part of the 14-man pool formed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas set to compete in the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers’ 6th window.
The 6-foot-11 naturalized Filipino was welcomed by national team head coach Yeng Guiao and team manager Butch Antonio.
Blatche, who averaged 11 points and 11 rebounds during the first round, was suspended for the first three games in the next stage of the WCQ due to his role in the Gilas-Australia brawl last July. Gilas went 1-3 in the four games Blatche missed.
Blatche though will only spend 10 days here in the Philippines his mother team Tianjin Ronggang will have two games in the CBA — a home game against Fujian on February 13 and a road tilt against Shandong on the 15th. Blatche will arrive in Qatar on the 16th as well.
Gilas face Qatar in Doha on February 21 before taking on Kazakhstan in Astana on the 24th.
