Alyssa Valdez to miss SEA GP due to sprained right ankle injury

Alyssa Valdez will not join the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team in Thailand, nor participate in the Southeast Asian Grand Prix, which starts on September 20.

In a medical certificate posted by Kristel Satumbaga on Twitter, the 26-year-old outside spiker was diagnosed with a sprained right ankle, which she reportedly sustained during practice.

Valdez was advised not to partake in competition nor training for a week, a span that covers the remaining days of the Nationals’ 12-day training camp and the opening day of the SEA Grand Prix.

Moreover, the national team campaigner was also told to undergo physical therapy.

Dr. Jose Raul Canlas conducted the medical examination on Friday, September 13 at the St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City, as per the medical certificate tweeted online.

As of this posting, the current lineup for the team that will compete in the SEA Grand Prix consists of Aby Maraño, Jia Morado, Alohi Robins-Hardy, Eya Laure, Majoy Baron, Maddie Madayag, Roselyn Doria, Kalei Mau, Ces Molina, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Mylene Paat, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Dawn Macandili and Kath Arado.
