Alyssa Valdez is back on the taraflex after missing two tournaments after a bout with dengue fever.
And she’s back like she never left during Creamline’s 25-22, 25-18, 26-28, 25-22 victory over PLDT to open its Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference campaign on Thursday at the Philsports Arena.
The three-time league MVP unloaded 17 points on 15 attacks and two blocks in her first game back since August 14.
That was when the Cool Smashers won the Invitational Conference with a dominant sweep over KingWhale with her finishing with nine points, 13 digs, and eight excellent receptions.
Valdez then missed the 2022 PNVF AVC Cup for Women and 2022 ASEAN Grand Prix, where Creamline represented the Philippines.
“Honestly, kinikilabutan talaga ako as in goosebumps talaga every shout ng mga fans kapag nakakapoint ‘yung teammates ko,” said the 29-year-old spiker out of Batangas.
“It was my first time to miss a lot of tournaments this year so I was really happy to get back and it’s just so nice to be back, getting the win.“
Valdez also got the praise from Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses.
When asked about their Turkish import Yeliz Basa, who finished with 17 points as well, the bench tactician shared how his Cool Smashers always have threats from anywhere even outside their import.
“Kahit sa mga crucial points talagang nagdedeliver din naman siya (Basa). Hopefully next game, talagang yung laro niya lumabas na kasi hindi rin naman kami nagaasa sa import especially nandiyan na si Aly,” said Meneses.
