Alyssa Solomon’s 20-point performance not enough as NU-Boysen drops to VTV Cup classis

National University-Boysen fell to the classification phase of the 2024 VTV International Women’s Volleyball Cup on Thursday after bowing to Russian club Korabelka, 18-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-22, at Ninh Binh Hall.

Alyssa Solomon delivered a monster performance, scoring 20 points on 19 attacks and a block.

However, it was not enough to carry the Paint Masters to the next round of the invitational tournament.

Solomon, along with Bella Belen and Vange Alinsug, led a spirited rally for NU in the third set to get on the scoreboard.

However, Elizaveta Nesterova took over in the fourth set, scoring 13 of her 33 points to secure the win for Korabelka.

Anastasia Chernieva also contributed 14 points for the Russian team, which will face VC Kuanysh in the semifinals.

The other semifinal matchup will feature Gimcheon Korea Expressway against host Vietnam.

The Paint Masters went 0-3 in the elimination round, falling to Gimcheon Korea Expressway (25-17, 25-20, 25-15), Kuanysh (26-24, 25-18, 25-22), and Vietnam (25-11, 25-21, 25-21).

NU will now face V.League team Aranmare Yamagata in the classification phase.
