Alvin Pasaol pondering whether to return to UE next year or enter draft

There is a big buzz surrounding the squad that the University of the East Red Warriors will banner next season, as the new coaching staff of the team has stacked their Team B headlined by Adama Diakhite, Brix Ramos, Richie Rodger, among others. However, Alvin Pasaol might not be there to lead the team.

After absorbing a 61-80 loss to the Far Eastern University Tamaraws on Sunday afternoon at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, the 6-foot-3 scorer out of Davao admitted that he is thinking of throwing his name into the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft.

“Pinag-iisipan ko pa kung babalik ako sa UE, I hope mapag-isipan ko na babalik ako,” shared the third-year Red Warriors, who still has one year of eligibility remaining.

“Ngayon, tentative pa ako kasi siyempre yun nangyayari ngayon.”

The deadline for the draft applications is on December 3.

Though the one-time All-UAAP team member is currently averaging norms of 24.8 points and 10.0 rebounds, Pasaol will not be armed with an impressive resume team-wise. After today’s game, the Red Warriors have only compiled seven wins while accumulating 33 losses in his three-year stay in Recto.

“Yun yung pinag-iisipan ko kung maga-apply ako sa PBA draft, yun yung nagbo-bother sa akin, pero wala namang naapektuhan sa laro ko,” he added, admitting that the losses have taken their toll on him.

He still has yet to talk about it with his teammates and the team’s staff.

Come what may, the 23-year-old vows to go all-out for UE in their final two games of the season.

“Ganun pa rin yung mangyayari, wala namang magbabago, I’m playing my last two games siguro kaya buhos ulit.”
