Allan Caidic named commissioner of 3X3 Golden League Manila

A PBA legend in Allan Caidic has been appointed as commissioner of the 3×3 Golden League Manila which will be played from September 12 to 15.

Caidic is a household name not just in the Philippines but also in the international basketball scene, widely known for his three-point shooting ability. He currently holds the record for most points scored in the PBA by a local with 79 points, subsequently making another league record of 17 three-point baskets.

Caidic is thrilled with the opportunity to head the tournament as he wants to help in the development of grassroot basketball along with the electrifying 3×3 concept in the Philippines. A many-time capped ex-Philippine national team player, Caidic also looks forward to present players with the opportunities to represent the country as the champion of the tournament will fly to Beijing to compete in the Sina 3×3 International Elite League where the top 3×3 teams around the world will be in action.

“I believe that the Philippines has a potential in this sport. Almost all players including me began playing 3×3 basketball on the streets,” said the now-55 year old living legend.

“I see the potential of the Filipinos excelling in the sport, especially with the event being an Olympic sport in 2020 will motivate them further.”

The 3×3 Golden League Manila tournament will be played from September 12 to 14 at Taft Food by the Court, while the national finals will be held on September 15 at the Vista Mall in Taguig City. A total of 128 teams will battle for the Manila tournament crown with the champion advancing into the Sina 3×3 International Elite League held from November 13 to 17 in Beijing.
