Alex Cabagnot could be out for the rest of the 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup.
The 39-year-old guard hurt his left Achilles during Terrafirna’s meeting with NLEX, Saturday afternoon at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
It happened with 2:05 left in the third after taking a jumper. He missed and their foes got the ball, but suddenly limped when he tried to get down on defense.
The Dyip only had four men on D instead as the left gunner hobbled his way onto the bench and got immediately attended to by the coaches.
A broadcast report shortly after that disclosed what he suffered, and head coach Johnedel Cardel, later on, confirmed that his player incurred a tear.
Cabagnot never returned to the game, leaving with five points, five assists, and four rebounds. He was badly missed as Terrafirma lost, 88-107.
It wasn’t just the decorated guard who left the game. Forward Roosevelt Adams headed to the dugout as well due to an apparent left knee injury.
The 6-foot-6 shooter appeared shaken up when he helped defend an attacking Calvin Oftana with 3:54 left to play.
This is indeed a big blow to the Dyip, who’s been missing Joshua Munzon as the top overall pick continues to recover from his hand injury.
Terrafirma is now 1-3 in the tilt.
