At just 23 years old, Alessandro Michieletto continued his meteoric rise by capturing the MVP award after leading Italy to back-to-back titles in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2025 on Sunday night.
He also finished as the tournament’s sixth-highest scorer, amassing 93 points — tied with Poland’s Wilfredo Leon — and earned one of the Best Outside Hitter awards.
Michialetto capped off his run with an 11-point performance in the Italians’ four-set, 25-21, 25-17, 17-25, 25-10 conquest of Bulgaria in the gold medal match.
Bulgarian rising star Aleksandar Nikolov earned a well-deserved Best Outside Hitter award after racking up 173 points, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer.
Italy’s Yuri Romano also made the Dream Team, taking home the Best Opposite Spiker award with 88 points, good for eighth on the scoring chart.
Rounding out the Italians in the elite lineup were last year’s MVP Simone Giannelli and Fabio Balaso, who secured their second consecutive Best Setter and Best Libero awards, respectively.
Poland’s Jakub Kochanowski and Bulgaria’s Aleks Grozdanov completed the Dream Team as the Best Middle Blockers.
