With first game out of the way, Diego braces for rest of PVL field

Regine Diego’s F2 Logistics debut proved to be a successful one after the Cargo Movers fended off PLDT in five sets to punch their first win in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

The first year head coach shared that their performance against the High Speed Hitters showed that the team still has a lot of room to improve on in order for them to be ready in their upcoming games.

“It feels like [a] championship. But yeah, it was a good game, and this game, at least we saw what we need to train more. Kung saan kami nag-lack, kung saan kami magaling, para next game maka-adjust kami kaagad,” said Diego.

“It’s really a good way para malaman namin kung ano ang mga challenges na mami-meet namin in the future. It’s a good way din para maka-adjust kami kung ano dapat naming gawin,” she added.

F2 Logistics bagged the first two sets to take a quick 2-0 lead but failed to completely put away PLDT, who took the next two before the Cargo Movers escaped a tight fifth set en route to a 25-22, 25-21, 14-25, 20-25, 16-14 win.

Diego said that she plans to make changes moving forward and address the team’s approach to prevent instances such as this from happening again.PVL-2023-PLDT-vs.-F2-Aby-Marano-9927 With first game out of the way, Diego braces for rest of PVL field News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Lahat ng teams, may attitude eh. So may attitude sila na naghihintay muna sila ma-challenge bago sila lumaban. Ngayon, we have to make a change in this team, in the system na kailangan, kuha na agad. Kuha na agad. Hindi pwedeng mag-intay ng mag-intay,” said the former NU juniors head coach.

“So, so many things pa rin na kailangang ayusin but siyempre, hindi kami pwede mag-relax. This was just a win, and it was a difficult win. So, we have to improve every day. We have to improve next game, and kailangan pa namin mag-work harder.”

Still, despite their shaky performance, Diego said that she was very happy with how her team fought back against a red-hot High Speed Hitters side that came back from a 0-2 deficit to send the game to a fifth set.

“But I’m happy, ’cause we won, syempre. And nakita ko rin kung gaano katapang ang mga players ko.”
