AFF: Inthiya, Chanthavongxay strike as Laos defeats Timor Leste to earn first win


Laos barged into the win column of the 2022 AFF Women’s Championship with a clinical 2-0 win over Timor Leste, Thursday evening, at the Binan Football Stadium in Laguna.

Laotian midfielder Vady Inthiya gave her team the lead in the 14th minute when she shot past Timor Leste goalkeeper Gorette F De Deus Andrade Da Costa from close range.

Coach Vongmisay Soubouakham’s side then sealed the win when substitute Aphatsala Chanthavongxay cooly scored past Gorette F De Deus Andrade Da Costa at the 84th minute.

The result means that Laos rises to the top of Group B with 4 points behind one draw and one win. On the other hand, this was Timor Leste’s second straight defeat in the tournament.

Laos will return to action against Vietnam on Saturday at 7:00 PM while Timor Leste will also go up against Vietnam on Monday at 7:00 PM. The Binan Football Stadium will host both matches.
