ABL: Kwekuteye, Zamboanga bow to NS Matrix anew

Zamboanga suffered another defeat at the hands of NS Matrix, this time falling 88-98 in the Thailand circuit of the 2023 ABL, Saturday at Hi-Test Arena.

Just like their 82-86 loss to the same team seven days ago, the Valientes could not sustain their fourth quarter rally.

The Valientes were up 83-81 midway through the final frame before the Malaysians took charge.

The quartet of Amir Williams, Tevin Glass, Wong Yihou, and Ong Weiyong took turns in blasting the Zamboanga defense. As the dust settled, NS Matrix were up 96-83 with 1:11 remaining.

Zamboanga, who were coming off a 118-73 rout of Bangkok on Thursday, fell to 3-3 — down to fifth in the eight-team league.

James Kuwekuteye paced Zamboanga with 25 points while Jeremy Arthur tallied 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Antonio Hester produced 18 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals while Ryan Smith produced a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

NS Matrix, who went up to 4-2 for third, was led by Williams with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Glass also got 24 points and 10 boards.
