ABL 3×3: Platinum Karaoke settles for bronze

Despite having a loaded squad, Platinum Karaoke could not overcome the home team.

Platinum Karaoke suffered heartbreak in the semis but still recovered in the third-place match, bagging bronze in the 2022 ASEAN Basketball League International Champions Cup, Sunday in Bali, Indonesia.

After defeating Ahemedadab 3BL by a hairline, 19-17, in the quarters, the quartet of Juan Gomez de Liano, Chris De Chavez, Carlos Martinez, and Marcus Hammonds figured in a showdown with the Indonesia Patriots in the semis.

Knotted at 13-all, Jamarr Johnson knocked a buzzer-beating deuce to stun Platinum and advance to the final.

Indonesia ended up winning it all, beating Harimau Malaya, 21-15, to win the tournament.

The Patriots and Harimau though did not win the cash prizes as they are national teams set to compete in the 31st Southeast Asian Games.

Meanwhile, Platinum defeated Vietnam’s Red and Gold, 15-8, to take home $2,000 in this level five FIBA 3×3 tournament.

The other men’s team Zamboanga Valientes lost in the quarterfinals to the Red and Gold, 21-12.
